Libertà Clandestine

edited by Valentina Gensini

Libertà clandestine sheds light on a silent revolution which, through the arts, stirred the spirit of the Argentinian political prisoners during the cruel dictatorship that ruled the country from 1976 to 1983. As a sign of their defiant resistance, internees bent to original activities unbeknownst to the prison guards. Far from delving into grim tales of terrors, the produced works tell of these extraordinary and secret activities: the power of creativity was a real thrust for survival and the collective identity was the silent protest against alienation to which prisoners were strategically subjected.
