Francesco Gesualdi has made a name for himself among European critics as one of the most original Italian accordionists engaged in the development and interpretation of contemporary works for the accordion.
He works closely with many of today’s foremost composers, and has built up a wide repertoire as soloist and as chamber musician. He has made more than one hundred performance editions – including world premiere and unreleased recordings – of original compositions for accordion by many international authors of today’s music scene. He has also worked very closely with Sofia Gubaidulina, Mauricio Kagel, Toshio Hosokawa, Wolfgang Rihm, Alessandro Solbiati, Stefano Gervasoni, Matteo Franceschini, Mauro Cardi, Rebecca Saunders, Howard Skempton, Mauricio Sotelo (just to name a few), playng their most important works for accordion (as soloist and as a chamber musician in various instrumental ensemble), some in Italian premiere, others in world premiere.
