L’arcipelago

Primo studio residenza artistica danza

L’arcipelago è una performance che mette in scena un mito sull’origine delle isole Eolie. Al centro della storia è la particolare relazione tra i vulcani e le emozioni umane che sarà tradotta ispirandosi al sistema descritto dalla medicina tradizionale Taoista. Il movimento dei corpi nello spazio sarà accompagnato da una composizione musicale dal vivo e da alcune proiezioni video. Durante la serata l’artista condividerà una tappa del percorso di ricerca avviato assieme ad altri/e quattro interpreti durante la sua residenza presso MAD.

Maria Montesi

Maria Montesi is a visual artist and filmmaker. Currently residing in Florence, she works as a lecturer in video-making and photography at the FIDI Institute since 2019. She graduated in Visual Arts and Performing Arts from IUAV in Venice and obtained a master’s degree in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths’ College in London. She won an artist’s residency for three years at Malterie in Lille, France. She has participated in various artistic residencies including FKSE (Budapest),... La Générale d’Imaginaire (Dunkerque), Penthouse Art Residency (Brussels), Neutopica La Selva (Talla), MAD Murate Art District (Florence). She has exhibited her works in several European cities: in London at The Horse Hospital, in Lille at Gare Saint Sauveur, Artconnexion, and Espace Le Carré, in Venice at Nation25 – the Nationless Pavilion, in Kassel as part of the project “12 Ballads for the Huguenot House”, in Prato at Officina Giovani, in Amsterdam at Rongwrong Gallery, Jakuzi, Plantage Dokzaal, and the Italian Institute of Culture, and in the United States (Miami) at Wynwood Arts District. Later, she obtained a second master’s degree in Art and Design from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam.
