The verses of Hanni Ossott inspire the title of this exhibition and of the homonymous artist’s book exhibited here. Maryangel Garcia’s work concerns on gender, body and sexuality issues by linking individual histories and struggles for emancipation. The language of low culture, from pornography to advertising, becomes the pivotal element of a poetics of appropriation that without prejudices draws on the collective imagination of macho matrix to transform the signs in a poetic ransom. Eroticism sublimates the brutal reification of the female body in a dreamlike vision and an opportunity for redemption, the fabrics patiently merge plots of experience in which memory and clothing redeem and tell a new female condition.
