The award, dedicated to Maria Luigia Guaita – intellectual, partisan, journalist, editor, entrepreneur, woman of culture and founder of Il Bisonte art printing house – has it’s theme Contemporary Primitive, and will see the works of the winner and the other nine artists on display selected by the Scientific Committee in an exhibition set up at MAD Murate Art District and open from 20 April to 4 May 2023.
The Scientific Committee, made up of Elena Agudio, Silvia Bellotti, Rodolfo Ceccotti, Valentina Gensini, Chiara Giorgetti, Ilaria Mariotti and Giovanna Uzzani has chosen a shortlist of ten finalists including the winner Giulia Sensi, four artists who distinguished themselves with a special mention – Jako Putker, Anna Trojanowska, Walter Rindone and Silvia Vendramel and 5 other finalists (Tamawake Akimitsu, Marta Di Stefano, Janne Laine, Scartozzi Marila and Johny H. Ngbwa) each of whom participated with a hand-printed work between 2020 and 2023 and made with a chalcographic, xylographic, collographic, lithographic or silk-screen process.
The winner and the four artists with special mention will be entitled to a three-week artistic residency at Il Bisonte Foundation followed by an exhibition of the works created in the Foundation’s Gallery (via San Niccolò 24rosso, Florence) from 5 to 19 May 2023.
The award ceremony, open to the public, will be held on Thursday 20 April at 5.30pm at the MAD Murate Art District.
The exhibition will be open from the 20th of April until the 4th of May 2023 in the hall Ketty La Rocca at MAD.
