Performance WADE

Wade Dance Inc, an American dance company founded and directed by Giada Matteini, originally from Florence, in collaboration with Murate Art District, presents an evening of Butoh saturday 8th of July at 8pm. VANGELINE, an internationally renowned Butoh artist, leads a group of artists from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and Singapore in a one-hour exploration that directly responds to the architecture of Sala Ketty La Rocca. In an attempt to discover “the dance that already exists,” VANGELINE skillfully guides the group to find movement from within and uncover our shared human condition. The performance is a result of a five-day workshop called Dance HUB: Italy, produced by WADE and hosted by Max Ballet Academy.

WADE addresses the theme of gender-based violence and discrimination, pursuing the idea that art and dialogue can be effective tools to combat acts of violence and oppression. The company emerges from the personal experience of the artistic director, a former victim of domestic violence, who wanted to propose a path of awareness and potential rehabilitation for those survivors of violence who have the opportunity for personal and social redemption through dance, music, and art in general. Giada Matteini is the artistic director of WADE and a dance professor at the Tisch School of the Arts, a prestigious conservatory of New York University, and she offers her own experience as a model of redemption.

Saturday 8th of July at 8:00 pm. Free entrance.
