Nuclei (vitali)

curated by Valentina Gensini

Nuclei (vitali)

Nuclei (Vitali) is a sound installation by Valeria Muledda, commissioned by Le Murate. Progetti Arte Contemporanea. This site-specific installation lives the former hard prison regime area of the Murate, which, unlike the rest of the Murate complex, has preserved its original aspect thanks to a respectful conservation and restoration.
The title of the art work alludes to the term cellule, which in French means cell, namely the smallest living structure. The project, tied to six months of residence of the artist, identifies the cells of the hard prison as real “vital nucleus”. Here History becomes a sensible, powerful, multi-sensorial and immersive experience. The visitors, exploring the space, make the installation change thanks to sensors; therefore each visit becomes a unique and personal experience.
Nuclei (Vitali) is a story-telling system, which archives and spreads the testimonies of personal and collective memory.
